Beerveza (beer + cerveza) is a beer with a blend of Mexican and Texan flavors. The brewer of Beerveza wanted to distinguish the different types of Mexicans in America but also have a design that unites the Mexican heritage of them all. I was able to achieve this by using a Mexican wrestler as a logo because of the popularity of wrestlers among Mexicans, with a different identity for each type of beer.
“Jugos” is a Mexican juice bar. The owners of Jugos grew up in a small town in Mexico where drinking fresh, Organic juice was a normal way to start their morning. They opened Jugos in Austin, wanting to bring a little bit of their Mexican traditions to Texas. They wanted their brand to reflect the colorful Mexican style in their hometown, and invite people to try their fresh-squeezed juices.
Before the successful movie, the “American Sniper” biography had a low budget book wrap of a silhouette of soldiers on a green background that made it look like war drama, and it wasn’t strong enough to represent the themes in the book. After reading the book I combined some of the elements of the story and Chris Kyle’s life to make a cover based on what I feel the author is trying to achieve with his book.
“The BBQ Bible” was a redesign cover job to better represent the contents of the book. Before the redesign, the cover had a really bad picture of the author that looks like it was taken back in the 70’s and it was not appealing to the eye. I redesigned the cover of the “BBQ Bible” to look like a traditional leather Bible by designing my own typography and some elements that represent a grill and BBQ tools.
